The great Kings center concludes the 2024-25 regular season at the top of the double-doubles leaderboard.

Domantas Sabonis did it again. The Sacramento Kings’ great center ends the 2024-25 regular season at the top of the double-doubles list, a feat he has accomplished in each of the previous three seasons.

Sabonis had 61 double-doubles in 70 regular-season games in 2024-25, albeit it was a tight race compared to prior years. The Top 5 included Nikola Jokić (59), Ivica Zubac (59), Karl-Anthony Towns (58), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (55). Sabonis recorded his final double-double of the season on the final day of the season, with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over the Suns on Sunday.

Throughout the season, Sabonis averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game, shooting 59% from the field and 41.7% from three. Aside from the 61 double-doubles, Sabonis also had 10 triple-doubles, which matched him for third in the NBA with LeBron James. Sabonis recorded less triple-doubles than Antetokounmpo (11) and Jokić (34).

This was Sabonis’ third season leading the league in double-doubles. He achieved it again in 2023-24, when he scored 77 points in 82 games, and in 2022-23, when he scored 65 in 79 games. Sabonis has 203 double-doubles in his previous 231 regular-season games, accounting for 90.4% of the total. That consistency is unequaled, and it is one of the reasons Sabonis is regarded as one of the finest big players in the NBA.

Sabonis is anticipated to play a significant role for the Kings as they strive for a playoff spot. On Wednesday, they will meet the Dallas Mavericks in the Play-In Tournament.

The winner of that game will face either the Golden State Warriors or the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday for a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
